Lazy Days

Some days you get up and just feel like doing absolutely nothing!!! Well, I've felt like that all day, but I had to work. Not sure if it was because Gabe had the day of or if I just felt like being lazy.

Tomorrow Gabe has to work, so Noah and I are going to sleep in. Then we are going to get up and make chocolate chip cookies and surprise Gabe at work with them!! I'm so excited! He's going to love them!

Then Noah and I are going to come back home and have some more fun driving his "big black truck" around the yard again. He's been talking about it since last weekend when he drove it during the nice weather! We get home so late in the evening that there isn't enough daylight left after we eat dinner for him to drive it. Hopefully it won't be too much longer before the longer days arrive and we'll be able to spend some time outside during the weekdays!

Finally we are able to go outside and enjoy the weather! After Noah woke up from his nap, he just HAD to have some "icecweam and spwenko's". So he got his ice cream and sprinkles! Afterwards he wanted to watch a movie, but I told him how nice it was outside and thought it would be super fun to drive the truck in the yard! He quickly agreed, so that's what we did!

He had a great time! He finally figured out that you can get farther, faster, if you keep your foot on the gas instead of stop go, stop go!! He then finally started to understand a little more about how you need to turn the wheel to go different directions. This is the first time he's drove it in about 7 months or so and he never really drove it very much last year...I'd say he'll be a pro racin speed boy by the end of this summer!

Catch up

So many things happen through our lives all too often speed  our lives up and we can't catch our breaths! That has been the way my life has been going this past weekend.

So many people I know are having babies, one person is getting married and we are planning our vacation, not to mention getting ready for this summer which includes landscaping the house (finally after 6 years!), planting another garden, and getting a new weed eater.

Thursday even I spent about 2 1/2 hours making pictures boards for my mother in law and my sister in law (which I have posted on my arts and crafts page). Neither of them expected to get one, so it was nice to see their faces when I gave it to them! Friday night after work, we went to my parents house and visited until about midnight! Saturday I spent the day shopping for a wedding gift, a baby shower gift, some material to make another baby shower gift and I also had to find patterns and material for my sister to make me new dresses for this summer! Needless to say,  I was pretty wore out by the end of the day!

Today I am trying to clean up and arrange the spare bedroom, it's a little bigger than Noah's current room, so I'm planning on moving him into it this summer and redecorating it for him...it's so exciting and sad at the same time how big he is getting! I can't believe that almost three years ago I gave birth to the most amazing child I could ever ask for!

Needless to say, I'm ready for some much needed R &R! But, why rest when you can get more done staying awake...right??

Handy work!

I've never really been big on doing things crafty. I never felt like I could do it. The most I ever accomplished was make scarfs by crochetting them. It's just been within the past few years that I've really started liking to find things that I could make. At work I decided I wanted to change the "theme" in my cubical and I wanted to find a black and green colored picture board ( for example, the items on my arts and crafts tab!!)

My sisters and mom and I were shopping for our yearly birthday shopping party and I was trying to find ones that I liked. I couldn't find anything that I liked at all! So my oldest sister said "Why don't you just make one?" Duh! Why don't I just make one...but how? So I started looking around for things I could use to make one...then finally I did! I loved doing it and my family liked mine. so I made all 3 of my sisters and my mom one for Christmas this past year!

Now I am in the process of making one for my sister n law and one for my mother n law. I'm able to now think of different and possibly better ways to make them. Either way, I'm really enjoying myself and can't wait to find different ideas to make them more personable for people! So much to do! But, I love doing it!

Life's lessons

As you go through life, you learn lessons. Lessons in which you are to learn from....as you see the world go by and are faced with so many different people, you wonder "Am I the only only that learns from my mistakes/lessons?"

It's scary to bring children in to the world, because you see day by day how the world is dwindling to nothing. How people get by and handle their lives without the Lord is beyond me. If I didn't have the Lord to call on every time I was scared, upset, sad, or was just lonely, well I just wouldn't know what to do! I just don't know how people make it!

I'm reminded of a song, " Jesus, sweet Jesus, what a wonder you are. You're brighter than, the morning star. You're fairer than the lillies that grow by the way. You're sweeter, much sweeter by far."

Adventures

In church we all have our own parts we play. Gabe is the base guitar player, Jennifer (my sister in law) plays the trumpet, Hazel plays the guitar, Dolly (my mother in law) plays the piano, and I play the saxophone.

To be honest, I never had an interest in the sax. I actually wanted to learn either the violin or the french horn. I tried both and neither of them worked out so well for me. I never could get the hang of it. The notes never came out right. I just couldn't get it. My minister came to me one day and told me that he had always liked the sound of a saxophone and wished I would try to play that. Well, that's where my first adventure started.

I couldn't find any place where I could just rent a sax and honestly I didn't know how much I wanted to rent an instrument that had already been in someone elses mouth anyway! So I called around and found a good priced sax and bought it! I tried figuring it out on my own and just could get it. So I took 3, 30 minutes lessons w/ Russ Weeks in Buffalo. During my 3rd lesson I told him that that would be my last one, as I felt like I could handle learning by ear after that. He didn't like it much I don't think, but that's what I did!

From there, I've been able to learn and play anything set before me! It's amazing how the Lord has blessed me with the ability to play songs by ear! Now that I've been doing it for so long, I've nearly forgotten what was taught to me during my lessons! I don't hardly remember what keys are what anymore! I'm still very happy with my sax, but I've been wanting to learn a new instrument just to switch things up a bit.

When Gabe was little his mom had bought him a mandolin thinking that one day he'd either grow into it, or would want to play it. Well, she was wrong. He never did learn to play it. Something about his hands being too small and he just wasn't interested either. So she kept it!! To this day, we still have that same mandolin. Granted the strings are a little old and rusty and needing to be replaced, but it's a beaut!

My new mission is the learn to play it! I asked Gabe about it and I think we are going to have the strings replaced and get it tuned up. I've got a book that'll show me the cords. Hopefully I'll be able to pick it up and really go with it! I'm really excited for a new adventure and can't wait to see how it pans out!

The Croup

Sleeping was a battle last night as I was continually being woke up by my husband "sawing logs". I woke him up to get ready for work, only to discover he slept horribly as well, not by his own snoring, but because he had been chilling all night long. He was pale and running a fever. Needless to say he stayed home. All day while at work, not only was I swamped with things to keep me busy but I was constantly worried I would get a call from the sitter say that my little guy was sick as well. Thank the Lord I didn't get a call! The Lord has blessed my little man with an immune system that's out of this world! I thank him for that! I'd much rather be sick myself, then to have him go through such misery. It makes me feel so helpless. Lots of prayers tonight that my husband will be back to his normal self by tomorrow so we can have a sick free home again!

Eating, harder than it sounds!

My son, Noah, is not the best eater in the world, but he's slowly coming around. He has never liked dipping his foods in anything, he has never liked the normal things that most kids his age like (2 yrs old) however, recently he has decided he's going to "try it." He tried A1 steak sauce and loves it! Now when eating he asks for his "nake sauce." He must think it's called snake sauce! But as long as he's eating, I don't care!
